» About Hector Gonzalez III, P.C.
My law practice is devoted to the defense of those accused of a criminal offense. I have represented clients with various types of offenses throughout the state of Texas..
My office is located in San Antonio, Texas. However, I have successfully represented clients throughout our great state, including the Austin, Corpus Christi and Boerne, Fredricksburg, Del Rio, Hondo, New Braunfels and Seguin.
As a criminal defense attorney with over 15 years experience in the courtroom, I have defended thousands of cases. I am passionate about my clients, the law and the results I obtain for my clients. Because of my criminal defense experience and familiarity with the criminal laws of Texas, I know how to evaluate the evidence in each of my client’s cases. In my experience, many police officers do not follow proper procedures. I’ve learned that many police officers will make concessions when cross examined on the stand and confronted with the proper way of making a stop or detention, conducting a search of my client’s home or vehicle, or administering field sobriety tests, breath tests or blood tests.
When it comes to a DWI charge many people prematurely plead guilty based on a failed breath test. This is often a grave mistake. There is often a chance that your breath test results can be suppressed. The breath test machine (intoxilyzer) is not a perfect machine. There can be many sources of error in the breath test analysis. The intoxilyzer does not measure a person’s breath test temperature. The machine is programmed to assume a certain value for the breath test temperature. If your breath temperature is different from what the computer assumes is your breath temperature, even by one degree, then the results can be incorrect. The intoxilyzer may also mistakenly measure residual mouth alcohol in your mouth tissues instead of the deep lung air. This can also result in a falsely high breath test score. The biggest problem with the intoxilyzer is that it measures your blood alcohol content when you blow in the machine. Texas law mandates that the state prove what your blood alcohol content was at the time you were driving. Your breath test score an hour after the stop is not what your blood alcohol level might have been when the officer stopped you. Please read the “FAQ” section of my website to learn more about alcohol absorption between the time you are stopped and the time when you take the breath test. A person’s blood alcohol level can actually rise by as much as .08 an hour after they stop drinking.
My Practice Is About People
I keep my practice small by choice so that I am able to give each individual client the attention and focus that their case needs. Your case won’t be handled by an associate who you’ve never met. I handle each individual case. I personally keep my clients informed and updated on the progress with their case. I provide FREE initial consultations so that potential clients can get to know me and get a sense of my competence before choosing a lawyer to defend them in court. Hiring a competent professional to defend your rights in courts is one of the most important decisions a person will make in their life. Your freedom and liberty may depend on it.
I understand the stress, uncertainty and fear that comes with being accused of a crime. The political climate disfavors those accused of a crime and some prosecutors, judges and police officer treat people as if they are guilty before the facts have been presented in court. Every case involves a fight. I fight hard for every client, every day.
